Our aim is to represent international students. Although ESN is not part of any political or educational institution, one of the aims of our organization is to contribute to the quality of the exchange experience of international students. Thus we have a strong bond with the higher education institutions in Portugal and we cooperate closely with the National Agency for Lifelong Learning Programme, of which the Erasmus Program is part of. ESN supports exchange students before, during and after their study abroad period. There are more than 170 ESN members in our country and all of them work on a full volunteer basis. The vast majority are students and most of them have already experienced an international exchange program themselves before they joined ESN. In Portugal there are 14 ESN sections.
